A few weeks ago, Albion Online launched a server for Europe. Although I was there from the start, I was unfortunately less active than I had hoped. That has changed a bit now, even though my guild, contrary to what I said in my last post, didn’t start a beginner’s guild. Instead, I was kicked out without a word and have now found a home with Blickfang.
I’m still having a hard time deciding which weapon to focus on. I started with the spear, which I already found rather boring on the West server. For my old guild, I switched to quarterstaffs. They’re actually quite fun, but not when you’re often playing solo. The holy staff would be another option, but I don’t really want to be the healer again. In the end, I was torn between the bow and the cursed staff. It’s been ages since I last played a mage, so I decided on the cursed staff.
I’m currently leveling it up along with its armor pieces. My guild already has a finished build for the Roads of Avalon. Those are my next goal, both to get more involved in the guild and for more fame and silver. Silver is always an issue. After initially not wanting to bother with islands, I’ve changed my mind. I’m now farming an island and growing carrots on 15 plots. My skill isn’t high enough yet to grow the seeds entirely myself, but soon I’ll be making a profit of about 300-400k a day. At least it’s something, as long as I don’t have another source of silver. Fishing is quite boring, but I’m slowly leveling that up too. Same with skinning. For the latter, I’ve at least reached T6. Now it’s getting tough. But all my learning points are going into fishing and skinning.
And the EU server? Great ping, as long as Telekom doesn’t have another terrible route to Amsterdam (where the server is located). It feels much smoother than on the former West, now Americas server. The skill level is and remains the same. The people who used to play in my time zone on West are now just playing on EU. What I always find astounding, though, is how much time and resources other players can pour into a game. All weapons of one type and the corresponding gear at least at level 100, if not 120. Just a few weeks after launch. Hundreds of hours (or euros) have gone into that. I unfortunately don’t have that kind of time, but the game can also be explored at a slower pace without feeling bad about it.
For me, the server is a good fit, the ping is a huge advantage, and you don’t notice that the community has been split. The world is still filled to the brim, and you’re never alone, even when you’d like to be. I’m having fun and can wholeheartedly recommend the game to you.
