In several iterations of my blog, I’ve placed great importance on having a header image for my posts. Header images that should encourage clicks and clarify the direction of the post.

To do this, I often resorted to free images found through search engines and made slight adjustments with Affinity. But often, posts were just waiting for me to finish the header image. Graphic design is a bit more time-consuming than just typing out my thoughts.

But Ghost, my blogging software, helps me out massively here. It has a built-in Unsplash image search, allowing me to search for and select a suitable header image. Unsplash is a service where photographers and artists can make their images available for free, as long as the artists and Unsplash are credited. See the header image above for an example.

Finally, I can focus on my actual hobby without any worries: writing. And my posts still get fitting and meaningful header images. I’m happy, and I hope you like the images too.
