Everyone is probably familiar with the Rubik’s Cube. A cube with six colored sides, each divided into nine squares. By turning the different sides, each square can be moved to any position. After randomly scrambling the cube with turns, the goal is to bring all the colors back together so that each side of the cube has only one color.

The principle sounds simple. But it’s not. If you don’t know the tricks, meaning the necessary sequences of moves for certain situations, it’s virtually impossible to solve the cube. You can take the easy way, or you can take the fast way. With the easy way, you learn a few move sequences and their order, and you can always solve the cube. The fast way requires significantly fewer turns. In return, you don’t have a fixed program but must perform completely different move sequences depending on the starting position. And, of course, you have to know them.

Two years ago, I bought an original Rubik’s Cube and repeatedly tried to solve it in vain. It always looked easy in the videos, but my cube would get stuck and creak. It just wasn’t smooth, and the fun never came. During a “20% off toys” sale at Müller, I bought another cube from a brand I didn’t know, but with the discount, it was cheaper than the original.

What can I say? This cube turns much better than the old one. It doesn’t creak, it doesn’t jam. With the right video, I quickly got the hang of it and solved the cube. By now, I can solve the cube 100% of the time using the easy method, and thanks to a good cube, I can do it quite quickly. I’m definitely having fun and can recommend the Rubik’s Cube to anyone. Just not the original one.
